Photorejuvenation with broadband light (BBL) therapy is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation technique designed to treat a number of skin conditions and perceived blemishes. At Sieveking Plastic Surgery, BBL can be used to effectively reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun and age spots, rosacea, enlarged pores, and a variety of other skin issues. Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Nicholas Sieveking, has performed numerous photorejuvenation procedures and can utilize BBL therapy to help you achieve more youthful-looking skin. Additionally, photorejuvenation with BBL is non-invasive and can be completed in our office as an outpatient procedure.

Benefits of Photorejuvenation

In addition to being a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment, photorejuvenation with BBL therapy has several advantages over surgical alternatives:

  • Light energy is used to stimulate collagen growth
  • No incisions are necessary
  • Minimal to no downtime following treatment
  • No need for anesthetics or sedation
  • Relatively painless treatment and recovery
  • Results continue to improve over time

In the end, BBL therapy can help you eliminate blemishes and rejuvenate your skin for a more vibrant look in a safe and effective manner.

The Photorejuvenation Procedure

Photorejuvenation with BBL can be completed in our office without anesthesia. During your procedure, Dr. Sieveking will use BBL light energy to heat targeted areas of your skin. The heat absorbed by the upper layers of your skin will cause your cells to generate new collagen growth. The production of new collagen will improve tightness and elasticity in your skin over time. For optimal results, Dr. Sieveking recommends that you receive multiple treatments at two to four week intervals depending on your specific needs.

Procedure times can vary, but most treatments typically take about 30 minutes to complete, and you can generally expect to return to your normal daily activities immediately. Some redness and swelling may occur, but discomfort is rare and can be alleviated with medication. Results will continue to improve over time as your skin produces new collagen.
